Six Success Factors – Your Ability to Partner
This is post five out of six based around Rich Schefren’s webinar and today looks at the importance of finding other people to help you grow your business. I am not talking about outsourcing to some guy in the third world for pennies on the dollar, but attracting some of the major players in your niche to blast your business into orbit!
These three points could mean multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars difference to your business, so they have to be worth reading, right?

1. Partnering is the Fastest Path to Growth
Your ability to partner with other people is the fastest path to your own business growth.
Looking back at how I used to do things, i.e. to try and do everything by myself, I can now see how many YEARS I wasted online not really getting anywhere.
I would like to give you a few examples of how I am partnering with other people to boost my business:
- I have a free ebook but not much of a customer list, so I am working with other people to promote my product to their list ( I will write more about this at another time).
- I have a small customer list but not enough products to promote, so I am finding people who do have products I can promote to my list.
- I want to increase my article marketing but do not have the time to write the articles myself, so have found a partner who can handle this side of the business for me.
As my business grows there will be other opportunities to partner with other people and instead of ignoring them as I did previously, I will now embrace them.

2. The “Trick” to Finding Partners
Finding partners can be tricky if you are not going about attracting them in the right way.
Instead of considering how they can help you out, you should step outside of your own world for a moment and consider how you can help them!
In the webinar Rich gave an excellent example of how he took his brand new company, Stategic Profits, from zero to $7.5m in the first year with no affiliates or list.
His first ebook, the Internet Business Manifesto, which has been downloaded over a million times was initially rejected by some potential JV partners but then they contacted Rich about a week later inquiring more about the JV side of things because they realised how valuable the report was.
How Rich made this offer attractive was all his JV partners had to do was give their subscribers the opt-in link to download the report. There was an expensive back-end product associated with the report which the partners could earn commissions from without having to do any additional work.
The problem a lot of marketers with substantial opt-in lists have now is they do not have enough good content to put in front of their subscribers to maintain their relationship with them.
If you could provide a “bigger player” in your niche with exclusive content, e.g. a set of emails or videos which also makes yourself known then that will make you more attractive to potential JV partners.

3. The Easiest Way to a Get Big Player’s Attention
The big players in whatever niche you are involved in are unsurprisingly very busy people.
They are not going to take a cold call or email out of the blue because the chances are they employ someone to filter out such requests.
The following tip comes from Rich himself so make sure you take note! He says the best way to get on the radar of whoever it is you want to attract the attention of is to blog about them.
The big players receive alerts via RSS whenever they are mentioned to monitor what is being said about them, their products and services.
If you blog about them then the chances are they will read what you have written.
I have written about Rich several times on my blog and it is nice to think he may have dropped by to read it!
When I am in a position where I can help Rich out in some way, hopefully I will have made enough of an impact for him to take my call

Hey David,
I’m back again!
This is another fabulous post, and something that I have battled with from day one.
I have always been one of those guys that feels like I could take it all on myself. But time and time again I remind myself that the way to leverage your power on the internet is through valuable JV partners we could pick up along the way.
We’re very lucky to start out in the right direction with Alex Jeffreys. The community and our “Mafia” group that has evolved from it will definitely pay off more than we could ever imagine!
Now it’s time to kick it into gear!
Take care, buddy!
Joe
Hi Joe,
I can’t believe I got it SO wrong for such a LONG TIME trying to achieve everything alone. While I have had moderate success it’s going to pale into insignificance compared to what I can achieve now I have made such great friends and potential partners.
The coaching is just the beginning in obtaining powerful JV partners and I am really excited about what the next 12 months is going to bring.
These are exciting times, Joe, and it’s going to be great to all grow and succeed together!
David
