Product Ideas for 2010 (and Beyond)
I recently wrote a blog post to mark one year of DavidWalker.tv and one of the issues I addressed was a lack of products to have come from me in that time.
For whatever reason, I have been inspired over the weekend to come up with ideas for several new products and I wanted to record them in this post.
This will help me ensure I don’t forget about them and keep myself accountable.
Blog Not Slog Breakthrough
Not so much an idea, more of a project with no clear end in sight.
The Blog Not Slog Breakthrough training manual is finished and currently being sold but I still need to split-test the sales page before I do a full-on product launch.
I also want to add a continuity angle to it, providing six months worth of content and will need to freshen up the manual a little before launching it properly.
I am very proud of the product so far and it’s been a real learning experience creating it but it has taken such a long time even to get to this stage of completion.
When it has been released I know in future to set myself real targets and deadlines to get products finished and on the market otherwise the process will just drag on and on.
Hopefully I’ll be able to launch before 2010 is out… (I’m not joking!)
“Project X”
This is an idea which has really excited me and captured my imagination over the past few days.
It’s strange how these opportunities come about…
I’ve felt really strongly about some recent events which have occurred within the internet marketing industry (but kept fairly quiet about it so far) and as fate would allow, the chance to create perhaps a career-defining product may have just fallen into my lap.
However, the impact of this product will be down to it’s name and it all hinges on whether or not I can secure the domain I want which I think is perfect for the overall concept.
If I cannot obtain it, I still want to proceed with the product but I’ll have to be more creative with the title.
This will be my next major product after Blog Not Slog Breakthrough.
Blog Flipping
I used to do a lot of website/blog flipping a few years ago and it’s a topic which appears to be making yet another comeback.
The days of registering an average-to-useless domain name, linking it up to an Amazon aStore and selling it on eBay for the best part of a grand are long gone but there is still good money to be made.
Over the weekend I looked into some expiring/expired domains and was surprised to see just how many of them had a Google Pagerank of four, five and even six, some of which with tens of thousands of registered backlinks.
Without wanting to sound like some old marketing dinosaur, “it wasn’t like that in my day” it could be that it has never been easier to secure high quality, aged domains at a non-extortionate price.
These domains already have traffic and could be quickly turned into a revenue-generating blog to sell for fast cash or simply redirected to your own blog or website for the additional link-juice.
I’m going to dip my toes into this over the next few weeks and if I get decent results, I’ll turn my experiences into a short training course.
JV Giveaways
You may know I maintain a list of the latest JV Giveaways which has helped to add new subscribers to my mailing list.
But, what you probably don’t know is I have a half-finished report all about building your list using giveaways which has been sitting on my hard-drive for the best part of a year…
I need to finish this report and add it to the giveaway page to encourage more opt-ins and create some sort of One Time Offer as an upsell.
I don’t want to go too in-depth on this subject because I have better ideas for products but I need something in there to fill the void.
Other Ideas
I’ve a few other ideas floating around my head due to the direction I am taking in my own business but whether or not these will come to anything remains to be seen:
Press Release / Google News
I have started to use more press releases to promote what I am doing online and it’s a lot easier than you may think to get syndicated in Google News and beyond.
If I experience stellar results using this I’ll create a product.
If I don’t, I’ll continue to do it anyway because at the very least it will add backlinks to my blog or whatever website it is I am promoting which will help long-term search engine rankings.
Interviews
I enjoyed interviewing Craig Dawber ahead of his product launch and it’s something I want to do more of.
Interviews can be quickly bundled together to make a valuable product so this is something I am also looking into.
List Building
I have been sitting on a great “list building” related domain for almost a year and when my own list building efforts improve I will build a training program around it.
That’s all I have in mind for the time being and I’d love to hear what you think of my ideas and what you have planned in terms of your own products.
Also, if there’s a product you think I’d be able to create but have not mentioned it in the above list, please let me know in the comments below!

Well you certainly have some great ideas there David. It’s going to keep you busy for a while that’s for sure. Can’t wait to hear more about Project X. Hope you get the domain you were after.
A report about getting the best out of giveaways would be great. I have not done well in them and wonder if it’s what I contribute, my description, or just that because there are so many events now that they have lost some of their appeal.

Hi Sandy,
I was about halfway through a JV Giveaway report but I need to have another look at it to freshen it up – I have lots more I can add to it now given my experience at hosting two events myself.
I will keep you posted for when it’s ready!

Hi David – Good ideas. You should have your hands full with that lot. Project X huh?
I have a ton of stuff coming up too – most of which I have been working on for a long time.

Hey Gazz,
Yeah, “Project X”
It just came to me over the weekend as a flash of inspiration so I hope, HOPE I can secure the domain name I want for it as it will fit perfectly with the concept.
If not, I’ll have to come up with a different angle.
Looking forward to seeing what you have in the pipeline too…
David
You’ve got your hands full clearly David!
Good luck with it all dude
Ashley
Thanks a lot Ashley, not heard from you in a while?

How Do David,
When do you have the time to just get your day to day things done?
You right about setting goals, targets and deadlines. If you don’t you will not have any real direction and those products you want to get created will stay on your Hard Drive for another year.
Looking forward to your latest report on using JV Giveaways as this is where a lot of my efforts are going at the moment. Just came over today to check your list and join up to another.
Will go now and have a look and join up through your link.
Cheers
Craig
