New Year’s Resolutions 2010

A few days ago I wrote a round up of what I have achieved so far since starting this blog in June.

It’s been a tough year overall in so much that I have had to literally restart my business from scratch, having made a full-time living online since 2006.

I don’t want to dwell on the reasons for having to start over in this post because you can read my story here if you want to find out more about me.

However, even though starting again was scary and this year I have not enjoyed the same income as I did a couple of year ago, I can see that progress has been made and I feel I am in a strong position where I can go all out in 2010.

I am not usually one for thinking “New Year, New Start” etc. but January 1 will signal exactly that for me, so without further ado, here are my New Year’s Resolutions – or goals if you will – I want to achieve (or preferably exceed) in 2010:

Early 2010 Business Goals

  • Redevelop this blog so it is more “opt in” friendly to increase subscribers
  • Network like crazy in January (Las Vegas, anyone?)
  • Launch the Membership Website I have been talking about / putting off for the last few months

Business Goals to Achieve By End of 2010

  • Consistently earn $20,000 per month (I first mentioned this figure in July) from all promotions
  • Consistently have 250 paying customers at my membership site
  • Build my subscriber base from the 2,500 it stands at today to over 20,000
  • Get my Alex ranking for my blog to below 75,000 (currently stands at just below 150,000)
  • Rank more prominently in Google for my own name and other search terms
  • Write at least two blog posts per week for my blog
  • Promote at least one major product launch per month

Branding Goals to Achieve By End of 2010

  • Write at least two guest posts per month for other people’s blogs
  • Collaborate on at least one project/product with another marketer each month
  • Attend a seminar/networking event in each quarter of the year
  • Attract over 1,000 fans to my Facebook page

Personal Goals to Achieve By End of 2010

  • Finish decorating / sorting out the house (Think I’ll need to get someone in for this one!)
  • Finish my home office – sporting memorabilia is STILL not up on my wall…
  • Go to the gym at least twice a week
  • Lose at least one stone in weight (or excess flab to be more specific)
  • Have better time management and be a lot stricter with myself

Quite a lot of goals to achieve but none of them are impossible, especially if I begin 2010 in the same way in which I ended it. I will also add more to this list over the next few days as I think of them!

Ultimately, I want to first create a six figure business which then becomes a seven figure business.

One year may not be long enough for this to happen but it will be great to look back on this post in 12 months time and see how far I have come!

Now, it’s over to you.

Let me know what your resolutions / goals are for 2010 and perhaps I can help you out. One of my goals is to collaborate more with other marketers so let’s get the ideas flowing!

Hey David,

Thats an impressive list you have there!

It is that time of year when we reflect and plan, but those that don’t have aplan will do exactly the same as last year.

I have spent the last 2 days doing just that and I’ll be posting my Plan on my Blog later today for sure.

Be good to partner up in 2010 David, will stick close and see you soon for sure.

Take care

Sean

Hi Sean,

Thanks for the comment – I tried to be as thorough as possible because I want something clear to aim for next year, rather than drift from one thing to the next yet again!

Those days are behind me!

Speak soon.

Hi David,

Great set of goals you’ve given yourself there, and if what you’ve achieved this year is anything to go by, I’m sure you’ll achieve most if not all of them.

I’ll be watching what you do very closely to hopefully get some more ideas for my business in 2010, and I’ll be posting up my goals on my blog in January.

All the best for 2010 mate!

Hey Daivd,

Great plan and goals, I am seeing a lot of this at the moment and I must say anyone that has a plan with set goals to work towards is two steps ahead of the rest.

I think it was Gary Simpson that said in the MWA forum you have taken “massive action”.

You stepped out of your comfort zone to put on your webinars and although I missed a couple of them they were great. Your goals are achieveable with the mindset you have and I hope to be one of those that get to work with you in 2010.

All the best,

James

Hi James,

Thanks for the comment.

I agree entirely – with these goals I have a focus for the entire year and I can split each of them into daily, weekly and monthly tasks where necessary.

The webinars were the start of things to come!

Hi David,

That’s a long list of goals but I’m sure you will achieve them with your determination.

I have put off writing plans and goals for a long time but must try and discipline myself to do it. It’s so true that if you fail to plan you plan to fail.

My 2 main goals are to stop procrastinating and focus on one thing at a time.

Thanks for the inspiring post.

Wishing you a very happy, healthy and successful New Year.

Hi April,

Thanks for the comment.

Writing plans are so important to succeeding.

Don’t make the same mistake I did and just jump from one fad to the next without any sense of direction – I wasted YEARS doing this and it is my biggest regret.

Procrastination is also a business killer – take action instead, it’s much more satisfying!

Hey David,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope you have enjoyed the holidays as did I but now it’s time to hunker down and get back to work. That’s quite the list of goals for 2010 but I have no doubt you can obtain them. I need to write down a plan myself for 2010 and I will do that before months end. My plan kind of fell apart the last quarter of 2009 and my business clearly suffered for it.

I’ll be keeping an eye on your blog throughout the year to see what you’re doing to make sure you meet your new goals you’ve set.

To a prosperous New Year David,

Hi David

Time management – yeah that’s the killer goal for most people!! I forgot to add that to my list as I was thinking about too many other tings at the same time.

Some things never change.

Good luck with your 2010 goals; I’m sure you will achieve them

Hey David

grteat goals, especially the one about losing a stone. it is so easy to put on weight, or at least it is for me. Tougher to take it off and even tougher to keep it off.

In my experience it is all about the sugar. Avoid sugar and simple carbs that become sugar like the plaque. Read the labels! It will shock you. Make it a plan to consume less than 15 grams of sugar a day.

All the best and may the weight drop off while money drops in.
