No sooner had I returned from an epic few days in Las Vegas, I was off on my travels again it seemed!
I spent three days in Newcastle, UK to attend Lee McIntyre’s Continuity Live workshop for another round of networking, drinking and of course, getting Lee’s take on continuity programs, a model I plan to develop in my own business in the not too distant future.
This was the second workshop hosted by Lee I had attended and while last year’s in Manchester inspired me, I thought the content in his latest event was incredible and I got a lot out of it.
It’s a testament to Lee that a number of intermediate to very successful internet marketers (much, much more successful than me!) attend his workshops and listen to what he has to say, rather than just hang around the bar looking for JV opportunities.
I took pages of notes and picked up some real nuggets of information – the type which could mean the difference between earning hundreds or earning thousands of dollars in monthly revenue.
I am not going to do what a lot of bloggers do and simply regurgitate in this post everything I took down out of respect for Lee. Some of the tactics he shared with us were previously restricted to his $15,000 clients and there was so much content, I could write about continuity for weeks based on my notes.
However, what I will share here is Lee’s eight-step plan to getting your own continuity / membership program set up in a matter of days, rather than the months I have been putting off creating my own!
1. Decide On Your Topics
Choose the topic you want to based your continuity program around. If you are involved in the internet marketing niche you could concentrate on blogging, list building, video marketing, affiliate marketing or any of the other numerous sub niches out there.
A better strategy is to find out what areas people are having problems and then build a program to solve those problems.
If you have a list, then email out a survey to find out which areas people are struggling with. If you don’t, you could trawl one or two of your niche’s most popular forums to find questions people are asking time and time again.
2. Approach Experts for Interview
This is the key to creating fast content because experts in your niche are going to create it for you in the form of an audio interview.
This is a lot easier than it sounds, even if you are just starting out – you just need to persuade the experts you approach that it is worth their time.
You do this by:
- Offering Shared Ownership. Let the expert know they can have rights to the audio interview you create aswell so they are able to add it to their own members areas, email it out to their subscribers etc. Experts are always looking for great content to share with their own customers and subscribers and an interview is just that!
- Opportunity to Pitch. During the interview, if the expert has a product which can help to solve the problems you are addressing further, then allow them to talk about it. Remember, the expert is giving you their valuable time for free, so giving them the chance to make some sales from the interview will make them more likely to agree to do it.
- Exposure. The expert gets a brand new audience who may not be aware of them and this could result in further customers being generated for them in the future.
3. Decide on a Title & Map Out Loosely
The key to attracting new subscribers to your continuity program is to give each interview a title and treat it as a standalone product, rather than just referring to it as “X interviewing Y”, which sounds quite boring, even though the content may be dynamite.
Try to find a hook and give come up with a dynamic sounding title. These are usually formulaic and revolve around how to do or achieve something and the reason why you should do it. E.g.
- How to lose 10 pounds in 10 days
- How to make $1 million on your next visit to Las Vegas
- How to get a girl’s number within two minutes of meeting her
Next, write 10 questions you want to ask the expert based around the title you have come up with but you don’t have to stick to them rigidly. Just go with the flow.
Also decided upon a bounceback offer, i.e. the product you want the expert to promote during the course of the interview.
4. Arrange a Time & Record It
This can sometimes be tricky because expert figures are always busy and their priorities will understandably lay elsewhere.
So, make sure you are flexible and can complete the interview at a time which suits them.
This can sometimes be difficult when there are time differences, e.g. if you live in the UK and the expert resides in the USA.
But, if you want to get this done, you will have to put yourself out.
Once you have a date and time, get Skype set up so you can talk for free with the expert and invest in a recording tool like Pamela which will enable you to produce a high quality audio product.
5. Transcribe the Call
Get two products from one by having the interview transcribed to create a PDF report which you can also offer to your continuity subscribers.
You can either transcribe the call yourself or find a cost-effective transcription service.
Shop around for services you find on Google or take a look at the Warrior for Hire section in the Warrior Forum.
6. Design the Product Graphics
You want your audio interview and transcribed report to look and feel like real products, so the next step is to design “ecover” graphics for them.
Don’t try to cut corners and attempt the graphics yourself if you are no good. Rather than waste days on a poor design, just pay someone to do them for you.
This can be outsourced cheaply and the Warrior for Hire section in the Warrior Forum should help you find someone who can professionally design your graphics.
7. Upload to Kunaki
Lee’s presentation focused on creating a “CD or DVD of the Month Club” which involves shipping out physical products to your subscribers.
If you want to do this, then set up an account with Kunaki who can produce CDs or DVDs complete with full colour inserts and cases for $1 or less and there are no minimum orders.
Simply upload your interview MP3 to your account and use Kunaki’s software to design your disc, case and inserts.
8. Payment Processor
The final step is to just arrange a payment processor to handle your recurring subscriptions.
There are lots of options available to you, such as Paypal, Clickbank and 1ShoppingCart which can get you up and running quickly without having to worry about using a merchant account.
Now, It’s Over to You!
I wanted to include Lee’s eight-step plan to show how easy it can be to set up a continuity program without a lot of time and commitment required from you!
It’s a great model and if anyone wants to interview me then please get in touch via the contact page and I’ll be happy to oblige!
Is this something you can see yourself doing? Or do you have any other ideas to throw into the mix?
Please leave your comments below to let me know!

Hey David,
Great post, and gutted I was unable to attend this event

Talk soon mate,

Hey Paul,
Would have been great if you had made it to Newcastle.
Could have had a few “for the road”…
There was some good stuff revealed at Lee’s event, hope some of it inspires you!
David
Hi Dave,
Seven I’ve been on the internet and been promised by multi millionaire that I would be given an address for outsourcing books, CD’s etc, now out of the blue and without having to pay (for nearly 2yr’s) a monthly membershipm I get one!
Good stuff from you as usual,
Thanks
Cliff Dean
Hi Cliff,
My pleasure! I have not used Kunaki myself but several prominent marketers have revealed they use it so it must be OK!
David
Hi David,
Thanks for sharing this useful information with us, a continuity program is something I want to create this year.
But wouldn’t you also need a membership site script for this as well, to secure the the members area?
Cheers,
Paul

Hey Paul,
You could invest in a membership script if you wanted but Lee’s plan was all about speed and physical products, so didn’t go into that side of things.
However, at its most basic, you could just deliver your monthly content via an autoresponder with download links where necessary if you wanted to get up and running in a few days.
David
Good post Davey boy! Its funny I am in the process of putting something together myself (not a membership site) but the recording etc.
The biggest issue I can see with products that attract recurring charges is that Visa have been clamping down on these types of payments being billed to cards so the site owner could find a lot of bounced payments amongst their membership.

Hi Peter,
To come out with a blanket statement like that is wrong…
Visa have an issue with “free plus shipping” trials and those certain CPA offers which don’t tell you about the recurring billing.
You won’t have a problem if you are up front about what you are doing and make it easy for people to cancel.
