The reason I set up DavidWalker.tv in the first place was to document my switch to the internet marketing / make money online niche and to over time brand myself as an expert in this area. However, this begs the question, is the internet marketing niche reaching saturation point, or is it indeed already oversaturated?
Depending on how many marketer’s email lists you are signed up to will determine the number of almost duplicate sales pitch messages you receive in your inbox every day, all trying to push the same product to get those all important affiliate commissions. Every other person on Twitter proclaims to be an “internet marketer” and I see an increasing number of “products” which all solve similar problems coming onto the market every day.So, with this in mind, am I wasting my time trying to enter this ultra competitive niche?
Have I already missed the boat?
While I believe I probably should have done things differently, even just a few years ago, I don’t think I have entered this market too late.
In fact, I believe we have barely scratched the surface.
Some of the more famous internet marketers, such as Willie Crawford, Stephen Pierce and of course the late Corey Rudl were pitching internet marketing products and services 10 years ago and all that has changed since then and now is there are abundantly more people online to market to!
Of course, there has also been an increase in mediocre marketers, products and snake oil salesmen. But, the solid marketers, those who really know what they are talking about and who can provide real value to their customers will always shine through no matter how many other people are competing in the same space.
Right now I am involved in a couple of high profile “product launches”, as a customer, rather than an affiliate. The first being Rich Shefren’s GPS 2.0, which sold out an initial membership of 575 places within a day or so. It then reopened temporarily to those who wanted to pay via a payment plan but has now sold out for good, I believe.
As a bonus for Rich’s program, I am also getting Alex Jeffreys’ coaching thrown into the bargain. Alex’s first foray into coaching late last year took in around 600 would-be marketers and his next intake will easily be the same amount, if not higher.
Even if there is a little crossover between the two programs, we are still looking at over 1,000 new internet marketers who are striving to be better and stamp their own authority in this niche within the last fortnight alone. Plus, that is from just two programs I am aware of. There are likely to be other coaching programs on the go as well, all with the intention of taking your average Joe or Jane Newbie off the street and turning them into Internet Marketing Rockstars.
Should that be of any cause for concern to myself? Definitely not.
There will of course be a handful of new marketers who take to this niche and become hugely successful. Alex, himself is a great example of this, having been a relative unknown two years ago. He is going to be a real powerhouse in this niche within the next 12 months, the next internet millionaire and I intend to follow in his footsteps.
The reality for the majority of people who try their hand at this is much different – they don’t call it the 80/20 rule for nothing. Some will go on to enjoy a little success, but it will be more of a hobby than a real business and many will simply give up, proclaiming it “doesn’t work” or that’s it is “too hard”, thus throwing away the opportunity of a lifetime.
I have been one of those guys for long enough and now it’s time to change.

David,
I too believe there are/is enough people online to market too, and there will be in the future. To many people fall off the wagon because they don’t see results, because they gave up to early…etc. You just have to hang in there and make it happen everyday, don’t give up, and never quit! Due to this attrition rate of people quitting, i believe that there will always be enough room as long as you differentiate yourself as a leader in our IM (Internet Marketing) marketplace. Enough said…
To Your Success,
Clint Anderson
Hi Clint,
I agree. That is why I do not care if hundreds, or even thousands of new marketers try to break into the industry every year. Most will not take action at all or just give up when the going gets a little tough. Some will have moderate success (which is where I would position myself at the moment) and some will go on to amazing things, which I hope to go on and do! Plus, more successful marketers means more JV opportunities and the like so it’s difficult to see a downside to it!
David
Best of luck David,
Would you believe that back in 2006 you had a site that I replicated and went on to earn over £35,000 each year?
I have the same problems as you, lack of focus and when I do make something happen I just sit back and not build on the temporary success. I will read this blog with interest.
Hi Martin,
Glad I can be of some inspiration, haha! What was the site you went on to replicate if you don’t mind me asking?
David
Sure David,
I’ll email it to you first
Can you send me you email or MSN messenger address?
Just emailed you
