I’m Back – Did You Miss Me?

Regular readers of my blog may have wondered what happened to me over the past few weeks. I went from three to four new posts per week to absolute silence almost overnight. I have not jacked in internet marketing or gone on to pursue exciting new opportunities. The reason this blog has not been updated is because I managed to cram in a house move and summer holiday into a two week period and my internet connection was a week late in being reactivated.

In the words of a once popular but now disgraced former glam rock star: it’s good to be back!

I am writing this blog post from my new home office in my new four bedroom detached house. I now live in a quiet cul-de-sac with just six other houses and from the few neighbours I have met so far, I believe I am the youngest home owner in the street!

I am living proof that self employment and internet marketing can help you achieve what you want in life. The funny thing is, I am where I am despite me doing business the “wrong” way for a long time and I feel a tingle of excitement every time I think about my current situation and what it will be like in even a few short years time.

As corny as it sounds, the move feels like the next chapter in my life and online career and I can only see things getting better as time goes on.

After a frenetic four days of moving house and doing as much decorating as time would permit, it was time to jet off to Turkey for a five-star holiday in Lara Beach. In between taking advantage of the copious all-inclusive food and drink on offer, I read Tim Ferriss’ The Four Hour Work Week after making a promise to myself to read more business and self-help books.

One part of Tim’s book which rang very true was problems “disappear” if you take yourself out of the equation. At home, I could easily fill 12 hours a day working on my business but during my three week absence the only “work” I did was checking my emails every few days via my iPhone.

Did the world stop turning?

Would I have to declare myself bankrupt due to not being sat in front of my PC hooked up to the world wide web?

Of course not.

I missed out on a couple of good webinars and an event in London but neither of these things are going to prove catastrophic for my business.

In fact, my break away from the internet, a kind of enforced holiday, has done me the world of good. I fired up my PC this morning hungrier than ever to get back working on my business and I feel the sort of enthusiasm that simply was not there six months ago.

I have lots of exciting projects planned which will propel my business forward so be sure to stay tuned!

    Hey David,

Good to see you’re back man :-)

I’m glad the house move went well, and you had an awesome holiday…sounds like just the ticket!

    Talk real soon,

    Paul

      Hey Paul,

Thanks a lot! I was only offline for three weeks but it seemed a lot longer!

Hey DW, I missed you man!!

I’m extremely happy to see that you’ve moved into a an awesome sounding home. And I bet it is a great feeling knowing that you’re much younger than the rest of your neighbors! ;)

That hunger for success is exactly how I felt when I came back from a week-long vacation in Hawaii. You’re so detached from everything that you’re used to day-to-day, but it makes you realize that you don’t need to be there every second. Tim Ferris opened my eyes to a bunch of things in his book. I personally thought that the 80/20 rule was a great one to understand.

I’ll talk to you soon buddy!

      Hi Joe,

Haha, I missed you as well Joe ;-)

The new house is really nice. I don’t think I am a *lot* younger than my neighbours but I’d say it’s a fair guess that none of them have their 30th birthday’s ahead of them!

I think having the break away from the internet did me a lot of good. I feel hungrier than ever to succeed now and I learned some great tips in the Four Hour Work Week aswell while on holiday.

      Speak to you soon!

      Hey Sean,

Thanks a lot! I wouldn’t say the holiday was life changing itself but it’s all part of this time period which I feel WILL change my life for the better.

    Hi David,

I did miss you in that I wondered what happened. Now I know and I’m happy for you.

How exciting to have a brand new detached house in a neighborhood you like.

And getting away sure helps to renew the excitement and joy of life.

It’s good to have you back and roaring.

Nice to see you back and firing on all cylinders.

Good luck in the new home – that’s one of my main goals by 2011.

    • David Walker October 6, 2009 at 6:46 pm

      Hi Andrew,

      Thanks for the kind words.

I was concerned I’d be “forgotton about” or that my readers would think I had deserted them due to my absence being a little longer than planned but rest assured I am back now!

I am sure you will achieve your new home goal before 2011 is upon us!

    Hi David,

You must be stressed out after the move.

    Good to see you back.

    John

    • David Walker October 6, 2009 at 6:48 pm

      Hi John,

The move was pretty stressful. It was non stop for four days, then I went on holiday. When I returned I got straight back into the chaos of sorting the house out so it doesn’t really feel like I have been away now!

Never mind, I am told it’s all “part of the fun” of moving!

  9. Roger October 6, 2009 at 5:11 pm

Hello stranger ! Congratulations on moving in to your new home. It’s probably a good time to buy too !

Is it any coincidence that Cardiff CIty have bucked their ideas up since you got back ? 10 goals in the last two games !

Anyway, good to hear from you again ;-)

    All the best,

    Roger

    • David Walker October 6, 2009 at 6:52 pm

      Hi Roger,

Thanks a lot. I believe I got the house for a good price compared to similar properties in the area but only time will tell if it was overall a “good” price given the state of the housing market at present!

Regarding Cardiff City, it’s typical that now we have turned our form around and built up some momentum, there’s a pointless international break to spoil things!

Mate great stuff and we will catch up soon

    Cheers

    Marcus

    • David Walker October 6, 2009 at 9:16 pm

      Hey Marcus,

Holiday was nice while it lasted, but soon became a distant memory when I returned to the chaos of the new house!

As you know it’s taken me a while to get where I am now, too long in fact but you are right – it will do for starters!

I look forward to catching up with you very soon!
