There you go. I have said it. I do not know as much as I like to believe I do. I suppose it’s easy to say now having gone through some of Rich Schefren’s GPS 2.0 coaching program but by really thinking about my current situation regarding my business and even my life in general, it just goes to prove how wrong a path I have gone down all these years. Today I want to blog about a few points which were raised during a seminar on how to be a better business thinker and how they will help me move forward in my own business.
Going through the coaching process so far has made me realise things can be very simple when you try not to over complicate them. This is especially true of the direction I want to take my new business in – it’s so inherently obvious that if I had done it close to 10 years ago when I was first dabbling in internet marketing then I have no doubt I would be a multi millionaire by now.
So much time has been wasted chasing supposedly “easy” money that I have been caught up in a whole variety of obstacles, faced numerous setbacks and I had almost forgotten what my real strengths are.
This is why I am now taking this opportunity to think more logically about what I do on a daily basis. Through the coaching, I am practicing training myself to see every situation I find myself in as an opportunity to learn. When something goes wrong, such as one of my previous money making fads not living up to expectation, it should not just be dismissed as “crap” and then onto the next unobtainable pot of gold, but to look for what has to be corrected so that it does work.
It has been a bit of a shock to the system, but I now no longer “think” I know everything there is to know about building a successful business online. If I did, then I wouldn’t be here today writing this blog, would I? These days, I try to be what is termed “humbly arrogant”:
Humble to have the conviction that you don’t know.
Arrogant to have the conviction you can develop the knowledge.
Prior to taking the coaching, I felt a bit lost regarding my present situation. I hoped to just muddle through and a new opportunity would present itself in some way. That’s how it has happened for the past three years but in reality, it’s no way to run a proper business.
Looking at the cause and effect relationships within my current circumstances has opened my eyes to a number of opportunities I had previously missed and the steps I need to take in order to makes them a success. I now have more focus and renewed energy and I will plough both of those elements into Alex Jeffreys’ coaching next week when it begins.
A statement on one of Rich’s slides really made an impression on me today and I’d like to share it with you to bring this post to a close:
The more complicated the situation seems to be the simpler the solution must be.
The key for thinking like a true scientist is the acceptance that any real life situation, no matter how complex it initially looks, is actually, once understood, embarrassingly simple.
If there is one statement that sums up the coaching experience for me so far, then that is it.

Hey David
Well my name is marcus passey I think we have already met I am getting to know a lot of people already cant remember em all lol.
Wow gotta say my friend this is an awesome blog you look like you certainly know what you are doing. You are gonna do very well mate.

Marcus Passey
Hi Marcus,
We have connected on Twitter and hopefully we can communicate a lot more during the course of the coaching.
Thanks for the kind words about the blog. I really want to make this one work.
I am pretty experienced, but more of a jack of all trades and master of none, so hoping the coaching can give me more focus and motivation to succeed in one area rather than flitting from one fad to the next.
The key message seems to be to stop chasing the money and let it find you. So that’s what I am hoping to achieve from all this.
David
Hey David yep I remember you on twitter,
How do I get gravatar pictures to show up on my blog??
I started my blog http://www.marcuspassey.com by following one of Alex’s students and trying to copy what they had done.I was also very fortunate enough to win a place on Alex’s course.

Your gravatar is showing up fine now!
I have had a look at your blog and I think you are on the right track with it. You are keeping it both personal and informative which is good.
David
Hi David,
Thanks for dropping by my Blog it’s great to be connected now and embarking on a similar journey!
Man, your post rings true, and I too have been chasing opportunites, the quick buck and the cash windfall. Like you I first started TRYING online some 7 years ago, and there must be 100′s of 1,000′s like you and me spending more than actually making any money online.
Compliments on your Blog, nice layout and design,
Notice you are a Cardiff City Fan?! I know Cardiff is a big place, guessing you live there……do you know Alex?
Any how, don’t let this ruin our relationship, but I support a team across the river severn that play in blue and white quarters
Be in touch again very soon.
Sean
Hi Sean,
Thanks for dropping by. Ironically, I am one of the 1% who actually manages to make money online, though I have been doing it the hard way for too long. I am really looking forward to getting things done correctly and becoming a “proper” marketer!
I live just outside Cardiff and do not know Alex… yet. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to speak or meet up soon. I have followed his progress over the past few months and he has given me plenty to think about.
David
Hey David,
You have an excellent looking blog! It’s very professional. Anyway, I’m in the Alex Jeffreys coaching class with you. I just wanted to check out your blog and say that I am very excited about what’s in store. I can’t wait to get to know everyone better and make some good connections.
That is a great slide from Rich. It really makes you think.
David,
I love your blog posts and I being a fan of Rich Schefren, I’m dying to know how hos GPS training went. Can you write another post on that?
Hi Gil,
I have taken a little break from the GPS at the moment. I completed the first three modules and am just starting the marketing bootcamp which I am going to get back into really soon.
I will of course blog about anything which can help my readers.
David
