Five Ways to Blog My Way to Success
I may be only a few days into writing content for DavidWalker.tv but you should be aware this is at least the third time I have attempted to start and maintain a blog. On the previous occasions and as I have began here, I have started with good intentions before the posts and interest in the blog peters out.
I think there are a number of reasons for these past failures, such as a lack of focus on a main objective for the blog and therefore not really knowing what to write about and my time being consumed by other business activities. I’d like to think things will be different this time around because I want this blog to be an integral part of the business I am trying to create.
The few posts I have made so far have changed my approach to blogging and here I have identified five ways I am going to take the blog and ultimately my business, forward.
1. I Will Blog Consistently
My previously attempts at blogging have failed spectacularly because I have started like a bat out of hell and then either lost interest or run out of things to write about. Arguably I have done the same thing again as this is my fourth blog post of the week. However, this time I am going to make myself accountable and state I will make a minimum of two to three new blog posts per week rather than writing a slew of articles one week and you not hearing from me for weeks on end thereafter.
2. I Will Interact With My Readers
I want this blog to act as a communication tool between myself and whoever reads it. I invite comments on all of my posts and welcome any questions or feeback via email. Not only do I want to build the trust and loyalty of my readers but hopefully they can tell me what they want from this blog and I can deliver it to them.
3. I Will Improve My Online Relationships
As I revealed in my first blog post, I have spent too long trying to “make it” online on my own really should be doing a lot better for myself for the number of years I have spent doing internet marketing in one form or another. I will network more, both online and offline and do a lot more commenting on other people’s blogs. There is a lot of cool stuff going on out there which I know I should be getting involved with. Plus, doing more will also give me a lot more inspiration for new blog posts of my own.
4. I Will Increase My Use of Twitter
I think Twitter has been good for me in preparation for relaunching this blog. I have consistently tweeted every day for the past couple of months and tried to find a balance between retweeting other peoples posts, trying to interact with my followers and dropping in my own links when appropriate. I am will continue to grow my following to try and raise the profile of myself and DavidWalker.tv as high as I possibly can. Arguably I am the most followed Welsh Twitter user and there has to be a way I can leverage that to some success.
5. I Will Write About Interesting Non-Business Activities
While I want this blog to promote my business, I feel it is also important to give my readers a little insight into me personally. While I am not going to be as extreme as John Chow and blog about what I had for lunch today, I will write about some of the more exciting things I get up to on the rare occasionas they happen! Last year I went to Wembley not once, but twice as Cardiff City reached the FA Cup Final. I also travelled to New York to watch Joe Calzaghe triumph over Roy Jones Junior at Madison Square Garden where I sat next to Hollywood mega star Ioan Gruffudd! These would have made excellent blog post material.
I think if I can stick to these five points I will be on the right track and have the foundations of a successful blog. If you think I have missed anything out then please let me know in the comments section below!

David,
I am reading your posts here one month at a sitting to get a feel for what you are doing. I can honestly say that I can relate to the dread of having to start another blog as part of Alex Jeffreys training.
I can assure you this is the last thing I wanted to do.
