Blog Not Slog Breakthrough July Update

Time flies when you are busy and man, have I been busy this past week or so!

I wrote a few weeks ago about how I was going to increase the content on this blog but I have been so swamped with other projects I simply have not had the time to do so.

Rather than let any more time pass by without posting, I thought I’d write an update to let you know what has been preventing me from blogging!

Essentially, it’s my Blog Not Slog Breakthrough training program.

During it’s initial testing phase it hasn’t been converting anywhere near as well as it should be.

It could be the sales copy… It could be the price…

I suspect it is a combination of both.

Therefore, I have decided to completely overhaul the product from the ground up and I’ve been working solidly on it for the past week. In fact, I have been rather productive and completed the following:

  • New Free Lead Generation Product. I will still offer my Blog Not Slog Basics report as an additional free bonus but it will no longer be the main freebie.
  • New Product Structure. Rather than the product being sold as one item, I have decided to offer a small portion of it on a low-priced trial basis which then leads into continuity. The product in its current state will be expanded to have enough content to fill a total of seven training modules. Each module will also be available in video, audio and PDF format. Module One has almost been fully completed.
  • New Upsell Product. People keep telling me by not having an upsell, I am “leaving money on the table”. So, I have created a high quality product which complements the training program and just need to record the sales video to promote it.

This is what I still have left to do:

  • New Sales Letter. The sales letter in its current guise isn’t working so I am in discussion with a copywriter to take a look at it for me. This will be the third different sales pitch and hopefully the last. So, if you don’t get things right the first time you can take heart that neither do I…
  • Revamp Members Area. I will still use Wordpress Wishlist to handle the memberhip side of things but due to the new approach for the product the structure needs to be changed.
  • Revamp Affiliate Program. The product has been redesigned to be very appealing for affiliates to promote. The low barrier to entry trial price should be great for conversions and who doesn’t like continuity income?
  • Split Test. I should be able to drive significant traffic from affiliates and thus be able to split-test all stages of the sales funnel, i.e. opt-in page, sales letter and upsell page properly so it converts as well as it can.
  • Full Product Launch. After the funnel has been fully split tested and optimised and is earning a good income, then I will look at conducting a full-on product launch. Backed up by improving conversions, I am confident of attracting “bigger” JV partners who can ensure this product the success I feel it deserves to be.

I am confident the product will be a lot stronger and useful as a result of all of these changes but this has come at a cost to other areas of my business.

For example, I was scheduled to appear in Henry Gold’s Destroy Guru’s product but had to pull out a week before I was due to participate because my product would no longer “fit” his criteria.

I don’t think I had a choice but to withdraw but I am aware it was not very professional of me and I do apologise.

I’ve not even had time to write my email newsletter as consistently as I have done and have shelved plans to promote some of my contacts products as an affiliate.

All of which has been quite disruptive and annoyed people I’d prefer not to annoy.

But, I have to prioritise and at the moment that means getting this product finished and into the marketplace.

Hey David,

I know the product will be even better once you have finished adding these touches to it.

Not that your product needs it though, it’s excellent as it is now.

It’s a shame you couldn’t do all you wished.

But sacrifices must be made and knowing the type of person you are I am sure you didn’t make these decisions lightly.

Hey David,

No wonder I have not seen you around that much, you have been keeping very busy.

I think the idea of breaking it down into a trial with continuity added is a great idea. I think people find it easier to part with a smaller amount at first rather then paying a larger sum out front without knowing if it is worth it. (Not that yours in not worth it of course.) :-)

Hope all goes well,
James

Dave,

Your story above shows how you have changed and developed over time and taken one product and brought it into a Phase 2.

Hi David
I think you are well and truly motivated. Time is such a precious commodity that we all have to plan to use it wisely.

A little about me – My name is Sue McDonald and I am a student of Mark Terrell and I am actually going through the course a second time – by invitation. I love it and know if I do all he says, I will be successful. I am Australian but the US is my second home as I have family there and visit quite often. This is why I started Internet Marketing so I can travel whenever I want and have the money to do what I want.

Well I hope you are doing well and you become very successful. I would love you to come visit my blog and leave a comment.

Kind regards

Hey Dave

I have just come for a visit to your site. How are you going?

Yes it’s Mark and I am following my students as they post on other peoples blogs. They don’t know that I am always checking to see they are getting results. I am passionate about helping them achieve and then they are able to make some money online exactly the same as I am doing. It is not really difficult as long as they are willing to put in the effort.

Keep up the good work.

Regards

Mark
