I have been really pleased with how my 30th Birthday Giveaway has gone, especially as it is the first event of this type I have hosted.
My event ends on Sunday 16 May and next week I will write a detailed blog post about how exactly I made my debut giveaway such a success.
I have been looking forward to writing the post since the giveaway began and I hope it will help and inspire you to run successful events of your own, rather than one which passes by relatively unnoticed.
To whet your appetite, I recorded a short video taking you “behind the scenes” of the giveaway and it reveals some details of the member numbers, income and traffic achieved.
It’s eye opening stuff and shows you the potential giveaways still have – I’m really looking forward to hosting my next one!
Let me know what you think about the video in the comments below and if you have any specific questions for me so I can make sure I answer them in my follow up blog post!

Hi David
Thanks for the look behind the scenes, not many marketers would do this or take the time to make a video as there is no financial gain, so i think it gives you a big thumbs up.
Keep up the good work.
Paul….
Hi Paul,
Thanks for leaving me a comment – it’s no trouble at all.
JV Giveaways have become really lazy and to a large degree, pointless to participate in if the host isn’t prepared to put any work in.
I am proud of how my Giveaway has gone so far, considering it’s my fist event and I’d like to think it has been worthwhile to those who have registered as both contributors and members.
I will be posting about the giveaway in more detail next week so stay tuned!
David

Keep up the good work bud.
Whats the difference in OTO sales and Special Offer sales?
Is the OTO sales, the JV’s upgrading to get more gift submissions
etc?

Hi Rhys,
Great to see you here!
You have it spot on – OTO relates to the upgrades whereas Special Offers are the paid gifts submitted by the contributors.
Keep in touch.

Gday David,
Thanks for the vid and congratulations on your event
As a traffic exchange owner, I can vouch for the excellent traffic generation that comes from manual traffic exchanges – people get a great amount of traffic.
I see in the urls that a lot of your traffic came this way – Great!
I am just wondering if you would like to tell me what give away script you used for your event?
and what features sold you on the script? maybe you have a link for it? please feel free to send it to me.
I’m looking forward to your next video and enjoy the information you send via email too!
Have a great day – Kym Robinson
Great listbuilding and marketing idea. I wish I saw this event earlier.

Hey David, thanks for giving us an inside peak, I have saved your emails where you sent future giveaways, I couldn’t do this one as I didn’t have a good enough gift yet, but I am working on that. Glad it was such a success for you, Sally

Hey David
Got to say a huge thanks for this Giveaway – it’s been a tremendous success for me and definitely the most successful event I have participated in so far – bar none!
I really like the fact that you do not downgrade for not promoting (I do actually try to promote events like these but with little success so far!!)
This is a great feature for new marketers and those with small lists and it would be nice if other marketers adopted the same attitude.
Can’t wait for your next one….I will be in for sure.
Also, whilst I am here, just like to say a massive thanks for the Webinar you did with Paul Teague – again, great information and a huge help!
Thanks again David
James

Hi James,
Thank you for the kind words about my giveaway. It’s been hard work but a lot of fun to do and I am glad it was worthwhile for you.
It was Paul who got me into the “no downgrading” policy but I am glad I did and it’s one I will adopt for my future events.
I have one coming up in a few weeks with Paul Wilson and I’ll blog about it closer to the time.
Keep in touch.

Hi David,
Glad it went well,
Have to say a big sorry as
I forgot to set up a mailing
before I went away for the weekend.
My mind was already in Bristol.
I will have to push twice as hard
for your next one with Paul.
Sorry,
James

A big congrats to you. Sorry I missed your first giveaway. However, getting a fly on the wall look at how everything came together is brilliant for someone who has never done this before. You give a great insight and share so much-looking forward to your detailed blog entry!
